This past weekend, my family all went to see Cars. It probably comes as no surprise that as the latest Pixar creation sets new standards in terms of animation quality while maintaining their trend for fantastic, entertaining stories. If you liked Toy Story, Monsters Inc., the Incredibles and the like, you'll love Cars.
Cars is a very good blend of mind-blowing animation, fantastic sound effects, a star-studded cast of characters, wrapped around a nice, simple story.
The animation in Cars was simply unbelievable. Separate from the characture-type vehicles, everything else was nearly real-life. Truly, there were times I was second guessing myself...
Well,
the Cards
kept the deficit below double-digits
last night
behind Jason Marquis on the mound. I GUESS that's better than the all-out, embarassing drubbing they endured the
night before
.
There's no doubt that the ChiSox are a great team. However, it's not the end of the season yet and there's lots of room between then and now to heal, improve, trade, promote, and the like. Likewise, there's lots of room for other teams to hurt, worsen, dump salary, abuse, etc their team. I'm not worried yet just because we've lost two games to a phenominal team.
The thing is, while Albert Pujols wouldn't have...
As much as it pains me to admit it, and certainly, the
St. Louis Cardinals
pitching staff helped, but there's no doubt in my mind that the Chicago White Sox are an incredible team. I don't know that I've EVER seen (not one, but two) such lop-sided games as the last two. I don't know that I've ever seen a team hit so well from the top of the lineup to the bottom. Of course, I have to remind myself that we've been in the AL for the last two games and get to DH. Any way you shake it,...
I'm shocked. SHOCKED, I say!
What's interesting is that this article addresses what STL-natives have long said - other places may reach higher temperatures, but it's too humid in STL for sweating to do any good, so you just stay sweaty and heating up. THAT is why STL summers are so dangerous compared to other, hotter areas.

Ahhhh....
What a fiasco
last night in Chicago. Yes, everyone and their sister in CardinalNation is blogging about last night's debacle, but most tend to be focusing on Mulder's implosion. Let's set some things straight...
First, yes. Mulder was TERRIBLE. Should the Cards officials dump him? I don't think so. Let's give the guy a chance to get his act together. Give him a few starts off. DO NOT put him in the pen though. As Jeff Gordon
says
, we saw last night how reassigning starters into the bullpen works out. Also, what would we get for him now? His value needs to...
In a day when "being a man" means either you've beaten someone up, or engaged in some sort of immorality...
In a day when "male-ness" is interpreted and compromised into soft and emotional, "metro-sexual", and "in touch with their feminity"...
In a day when "fatherhood" requires no further committment than the biological donation...
In a day when "just a guy" is a valid excuse for misbehavior...
...there's my Dad.
When "a REAL man" will talk and tell you, a father will show and guide you.
When "a REAL man" will get angry and reactive, a father will help you work through it.
When "a REAL man" has to be...
From the "what did you say" department:
My eldest son said that he loves Papa John cheese, as he sprinkled the green can of it over his spaghetti.
Well, if he likes that, just wait until he has Parmesan cheese.
Too much. Later.
Wow. That was amazing. I updated this very site with the latest version (1.5.1) of my blogging engine,
SubText
. I did the whole thing, from downloading the patch to applying my custom skin in under an hour. That's SO much better than I expected.
I love maintenances patches too. Just the effort and realization that there are bugs and the attempts to resolve them in a software package really pleases me, as a software developer myself. Too often, someone shoves some code "out there", but never maintains it, or forces folks to customize it to a point where they can't really take...
Alright, well, I'm updating my site again.
I have a new version of
SubText
(my blogging engine), but I have to reapply my skin (the visual design stuff). So, there may be some dust until I get that done... Sorry for any inconvenience.

People never cease to amaze me. Especially those with some level of power that think they're smarter than the rest of us and due to their benevolent use of said power, they're saving us (and the world) from some measure of harm. Specifically, it seems that the movie-gods (the Motion Picture Association of America, or the MPAA) have added a new item to their list of offensive material: Evangelical Christian themes. Due to the movie "Facing the Giants", put together by Sherwood Baptist Church's Sherwood Pictures ministry, having very open conversations about following Jesus Christ, honoring God, miracles, and the like, the...
In what I consider to be an appropriately measured commentary by a Tampa, FL judge, he has mandated that a pair of Attorney's that can't seem to agree on anything put the resolution of their differences (in this case, venue of a deposition) in their own capable hands, literally. According to the report on CNN.com, they are required to meet and resolve the dispute by playing a single game of rock, paper, scissors. [See the official, formal, legaleese version here.] The judge even sarcastically characterized these ridiculous disputes as "Gordian knots". I love it! Later.
Today, I ran across a commentary from Kay Warren. While she is the wife of Saddleback Church pastor and "The Purpose Driven Life" author Rick Warren, she's quite a woman in her own right.
It seems that Mrs. Warren runs Saddleback's ministry serving HIV-positive and AIDS sufferers. She witnesses miserable tales of mistreatment, abandonment, suffering and death around the world.
[Excerpted from the CNN.com article] ***************************
Horrific and startling images confront each of us daily through newspapers, televisions, and eyewitness accounts of those suffering from AIDS. You can do what I did for years -- choose to ignore it all because it...
In a review of Philippians 1:15-18 (NASB, NIV), I've found myself struggling to align my thinking with the teachings of this passage.
To start, let's consider what I believe this passage to mean - that there are two camps of teachers; both preaching the Gospel, but one doing it with sinful (or at least less than ideal) motives. Paul is happy that the Gospel is being preached, regardless that the people doing it are doing it for the wrong reasons. Now, I don't believe this means Paul condones their attitude, but that's not his point here. He's focusing on spreading the Gospel. In...
It looks like folks (here, here, and here, for starters) are ready to dump my favorite whipping-boy, Jason Isringhausen, after last night's follies.
The thing is, I was there. It was a sweet, fun game. It was a hoot to think that our Boys wearing Birds were still firing away; still pluggin' and chuggin' without Albert's stick. There was showing of many of the role players (Molina, Taguchi, etc) stepping up to fill in the voids left by the injured of the platoon.
Then, Izzy shows up. Oh well. Grrrr....
