April 2005 Entries
Well, I finally completed my Inductive Bible Study for Romans. We wrapped up Romans by completing a Book Summary that I uploaded as a PDF.
It's a very interesting thing to be done with Romans. I kind of made a fuss to even start it. I was very nervous, etc., but now I'm thrilled that we've completed it (with my Sunday School class). I will say though, that I'm not ready to take on another huge and challenging book like Romans (ie, Daniel, Hebrews, Revelations, etc). Sure, it's all challenging to some degree, but smaller makes things look easier.
To that...
Some of you may or not know that I have a background in Pharmacy. While I don't practice, it's certainly been a continued interest of mine both personally and professionally (in IT). It's been interesting that while I enjoy keeping up (the best I can) with medical news, and it's certainly provided me unique projects and opportunities as an IT consultant with such a varied background. Usually, those projects involved evaluating and suggesting processes used within healthcare environments.
Therefore, I was pleasantly surprised today to see an article that evidenced someone actually paying attention to and contributing some intelligent thought to...
I have been inundated with questions and queries about how I took apart my iPod mini, how I replaced the click wheel, where I purchased the click wheel, the current status (ie, did it work?) etc. For the sake and service of the greater good, I'll attempt to shed a little more light on this subject than I did in my original post...
First, to take apart your iPod mini, there are a number of resources out there, but the one I used was here. They've got step-by-step instructions, pictures, etc. They also appear to do this kind of stuff for...
So, in a few conversations with my 5 year old about things of faith, we've hit a few times on baptism. In the course of those discussions, he's since referred to the dip in the water taken with the Pastor as:
"appetizing" and...
"recycled"
The beauty is that there's quite a bit of theology in both of those terms. :)

Well, the Boys of St. Louis' summers pulled one out yesterday at the local home opener against the Philadelphia Phillies...but they certainly made everyone think it would end up differently.
Frankly, I'm not too surprised or upset that it took so long for the guys to win. That's the thing with this crew, both last year and seemingly this - never count them out. If you're up 5-1 (as the Phillies were yesterday), the Cardinals are more than capable of coming back to win, which they did.
What bothered me were really two things. First (in order of drama, impact, and frustration), Izzy yet...
Finally! The 2005 MLB year has begun. How I missed thee! Without hockey to spell me (in fact, it's my favorite sport to watch), I felt that Opening Day was always an eternity away. Fortunately, “eternity” in this case was only April 5th, 2005. It's on that day (today) that the St. Louis Cardinals resume their pursuit of the World Series title that eluded them last year.
So, tonight was game 1 of 162. St. Louis at Houston. It was a fun, although at times tense, game.
Chris Carpenter was brilliant. Well, he was way better than most could expect the first...
Well folks, let me give you a piece of advice. Be EXTREMELY careful if you decide to ever take your iPod products apart. It could go badly - very badly.
2 weeks ago, I wanted to investigate the potential for upgrading my iPod Mini's battery with an aftermarket one that claimed to extend the playable life 12-16 hours per charge. That's a pretty sizable performance gain over the near-8 hour lifespan my mini gets now.
The problem was that I am now, and always have been, a bit of a do-it-yourselfer and tinkerer - especially when it comes to electronics. (Just ask...
