Welll, another Christmas has come and gone. I gotta say, it seems to get more hectic each year. That could be because I'm getting older, I have 3 little boys, or because we legitimately find more things to do each year and get worse about planning it all out. Whatever the reason, this Christmas still turned out great if not stressful and exhausting in the process.
For a brief summary, I'll direct you to a Christmas letter that I sent out. It's the first one that we've done. I'm not sure if it'll become an annual event or not. I certainly got a good response from it.
The boys had a total blast. They got new racetracks, Radio Flyer scooters, and clothes among other things. Laura got a Southern Living at Home fireplace stand that she'd been wanting. I got clothes, an Ansel Adams print (image) and the requesite Best Buy gift certificates. (To wit, I purchased the Logitech Precision cordless controller for my XBox along with the Xbox DVD Movie Playback Kit.)
Not that this is any kind of New Year's Resolution, but I hope that next year (specifically around Christmas, but in general too) we can slow down a bit from doing things that are really ancillary or less than a top priority. I'd love to be able to hear from more folks that I don't regularly hear from. I'd enjoy doing lunch some some old friends that I don't get to see any more. I kind of mentioned that in my Christmas letter and it's true. For the first time in my life, I plan to actually USE my vacation days. Go figure.
Sometime, I may write down my what my thoughts on “people” used to be compared to what it is now. Suffice it to say, it's softened. Friends and family aren't just a hassle, they enrich life. That's not to say that friends and family aren't a hassle. They are. They're not JUST a hassle. :)
Well, this turned out to be an odd post, but c'est la vie.
