Last night...

Last night, I visited Universal Studios CityWalk in Orlando.  I quickly learned that CityWalk gets REAL busy on Saturday night, as lines for all of the major restaurants were significant.  I wanted to go to Emeril's, but the wait was crazy and it was already getting late. However, that logic didn't prove out since I ran across the on-site movie theater and saw The Passion of the Christ.  I have MANY thoughts going through my head, but I'm probably not ready to discuss it yet.  I need to let it “settle” a bit.  If anyone has any comments, I'd be happy to...

Please accept my apologies...

...I don't usually propogate this stuff, but this is a semi-useful tool, posing as entertainment.   How many times have most of us talked with our non-technical relatives, friends, etc to discuss why they shouldn't forward emails that make no sense to them?  But they do anyway in the hopes of: Helping someone miraculously, getting free money, avoiding some SMTP-transmitted (that's email for you non-techies) physical ailment, etc?   While I realize I'm contributing to the problem in the short-term, I am considering this piece a public service announcement for the web, by the web.  :)   http://www.bordergatewayprotocol.net/jon/humor/web_animations/may02-smilepop-soapbox4.swf

Oh yeah...my car...

Something else happened while in Orlando... Now, my trip down there certainly didn't start out too good and the overall experience wasn't great, but one of the highlights (in addition to the training facility, KDC) was that after my 1 hour wait to get a car from Enterprise Rent-a-Car, I drove off with a brand new Toyota Prius with less than 5000 miles on it. This thing was cool.  Granted, it took the ERAC guy 20 minutes and a helpful co-worker to figure out how to start it, but once they got out of my way of the driver's seat, it was SLICK. Let's...

While in Orlando...

...I had the pleasure of teaching at what is very possibly the nicest facility I've ever trained at. I led 18 students through the Microsoft CRM Customization course at the Knowledge Development Centers offices in Orlando, FL.  It was remarkable.  Granted, they're in the room rental business, but this was what you expect (and don't usually get) from hospitality oriented companies - like hotels. You walk in and you're greeted by their COO, Mary.  She's the bomb.  Technical, but very friendly.  Everyone feels important there.  She directs you through the hallway that spokes off into the different “suites”.  I thought to myself, “yeah...

Another trip...

I recently had the (mis)fortune of having to visit Orlando, FL for some training.  Last weekend, I flew down there to do pre-conference (Convergence 2004) training on Microsoft CRM Customization to about 18 students.  It was the first time for me in Orlando since college.  I must say, my opinion of it has not improved since then.  In fact, it may be worse now. See, I have a rule when I travel:  Never (or try really hard not to) eat anywhere that I could get at home.  It's simple really.  I like food.  I like different kinds of food.  If I have...

Los Angeles... The good, the bad, the ugly...

I had the “opportunity” to travel to LA for a couple of weeks, la few weeks ago.  Very interesting experience, I must say. First, just to give you some context, I actually spent my time at a client's location in Beverly Hills.  I stayed in a neighboring area called Westwood, which is a college student hang out since it's adjacent to UCLA. For starters, Beverly Hills did NOTHING for me.  Sure, it was cool to see the “Beverly Hills” sign and the signs of and areas that are always seen on TV.  I saw Trader Vics, Wilshire Blvd, Santa Monica Pier (more on...

Whew....back again...

It's sure been a while...  I've been travelling for a couple of weeks now, and before that, it's just been kinda crazy lately.  However, I'm going to take some time and get caught up on some things going on...  They include: Books I've read. A couple of experiences while in LA Maybe some MSCRM stuff (maybe) Whatever else I think of. Anyway, we'll see what happens.  For now, I need to get today started.  Later. JK
