I think I have a new work mantra...

As some of you may know, I have used the quote "Combating ignorance one moron at a time" for quite a while now.   While still very appropriate, I have found a new quote that may come in handy...  It's slightly more politically correct (which I'm sure you also know I'm always concerned with), but portrays the same feeling as the aforementioned quip...   So, without further ado:  "There are no stupid questions, but there are A LOT of inquisitive idiots."   ...says it all, no?  :)

The fun continues...

Folks, I'm getting a little tired of it.  If you've kept up with my posts, for the past 2 weeks, Sundays specifically, there has been a steady stream of forgettable to noteworthy events in the Ketteman - St. Charles household.  Literally, I took to praying simply for an UNeventful Sunday.  Alas, it wasn't yesterday. We woke up as we do every Sunday, prepared ourselves to attend church, and loaded up our 2003 Dodge Caravan to leave.  With the boys strapped in, Laura needing to hurry into her class, I started the van and dropped it into gear.  I released the...

New ventures...

Well, this week I spent my evenings working on the finishing touches (furniture, cleaning, etc) for a new youth organization in my neighborhood.  I'm very tired, but feel  pretty good about the work.  I've really enjoyed hanging out with everyone, watching passers-by as they crane to watch the activity, etc...  This new youth facility is called The Realm.  It's owned and operated by my church, First Baptist Church of Harvester.  It's the brain-child and love labor of the Youth Minister, Jamie George. Jamie has no doubt taken some heat to see this thing to completion.  Even though he got the funding...

...More glass...

Well, my parents came up for a visit this weekend.  Mom came up to see her grandkids.  While Dad likes to play with them too, we had quite a “Dad's Fix-it List” for him this time...  But, in true form, he knocked it out.  The play-by-play is as follows: Improve flow through the refrigerator water line.  It took a little work, but he got it figured out.  The valve gasket had obstructed part of the line.  Figures.  It was the one thing I didn't check.  Oh well... DONE. Clean up the light switch I dismantled and make the other switch for...

...You too can hit...

In case coming off of the Christmas and New Year's holidays AND a vacation didn't make going back to work hard enough... In case, all of the other events with the refrigerator and storm door didn't make the last few days exciting enough...  I hit two deer at (relatively) the same time in my pickup truck (2000 Nissan Frontier King Cab 4x4 Sport). So, it's a very cold Tuesday evening, around 6pm.  It's very dark since, first it's winter, and second it was overcast all day.  I have a variety of options in how I can get home.  That particular day...

...More than just refrigerator woes...

In case the frustrations around installing the refrigerator weren't enough, in case I didn't have quite enough to do to keep myself busy, I apparently decided to make a mess outside so big that it literally has taken days to clean up. Recall, if you will, that while we were swapping refrigerators, it was raining/sleeting buckets outside.  Also recall, that both the storm and main door had to be removed from their hinges to get the new fridge inside.  Ah...the moment of issue... When I removed the storm door, I legitimately tried to tuck it away for safety from fridges, movers, even...

My last 2 weeks...

Folks...  In my last post I mentioned that it has been a very “eventful” last little while.  Well, unfortunately, I posted that before I realized that the current streak wasn't quite overwith...Let's go back a couple of weeks... I was fortunate enough to be able to take from Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) until Jan 5th off for my VERY RARE vacation.  Granted, I unfortunately had to work briefly during parts of it, but it was very nice and long overdue. We had Christmas and New Years just like everyone else...or at least every other Christian-based  family I know.  Things we going surprisingly well until...
