Other people's code...

Man, it's totally NO fun to have to go in after someone else that doesn't follow good coding practices and try to figure out what they've done.  It's one thing if it's a single page with a graphic on it, but it's quite another when it's lines of spaghetti code with no documentation or comments of any type.  Nested tables are just as bad... But, all is well in cleaning up after the “slacker” from the previous post.  I think everyone will recover just fine.

Slackers

Ya know, one thing I don't understand is people who have no integrity in the work they do.  I mean, if a person promises that work will be complete on Feb. 30th, then, it should be.  If you can't do it, then don't commit to it.  How simple can it be? Now, I know things come up.  But that's life.  Things ALWAYS come up.  It doesn't mean that you get a “Get out of your responsibilities free” card.  Certainly, serious things are acceptable, within reason.  Death is a great excuse to missing a deadline, especially if it's your death causing the...

Microsoft CRM Training

Well, last week was a pretty good week for me, all told.  I taught another set of Microsoft CRM classes.  I taught the 3-day Installation and Configuration class, then the 2-day Customization class.  It was a partner class, meaning that all of the students were Microsoft Business Solutions Partners, just like Quilogy.  You just never know how that's going to go. However, much to my pleased surprise, it went very well.  The class was totally engaged, participated, was candid in dialog, totally NOT the obnoxious stuff that some Partners are.  I mean, really,  what is being rude to me and others...

Providential conversation?

Well, last night, we went to see the Martins in concert at First Baptist Church of Wentzville, MO.  They really put on a great concert.  ...but they always do. On the way home, my wife and I discussed “prayer”.  We discussed what we thought its purpose was and was not.  Specifically, we acknowledged that it was not correct to think that praying to God would “change God's mind” or that we'd give Him some revelation or new idea.  I mean, do we (collectively) think that we could come up with something where God said “Oh yeah, good idea.  I hadn't thought...

Topic ideas for MSCRM articles...

I think I'll have an area dedicated to Microsoft Customer Relationship Management (MSCRM) v 1.0 (and future versions, of course).  Of course, there are official Microsoft-sanctioned and managed sites on the product, but as someone that does quite a bit with the product, there's not a resource focused on the hard-core technical junk that one may run into. So, I'll be collecting suggestions for topics, as well as creating plenty of my own.  If you have an question or suggestion for an article, please let me know. Thanks.  Later.

This is my first post with .Text from Scott Watermasysk...

This is a pretty cool little app.  I'm not quite sure what I'll be doing with it yet.  I'm just glad to have it up.  I had some issues getting the DB installed correctly.  The “correlate” keyword kept failing, column settings were incorrect, it was a mess.  But now it's good to go. I think there's a strong possibility I'll be doing quite a bit on Microsoft CRM v 1.0.  I have visions of a user/implementer/coder site for MSCRM folks.  One doesn't currently exist, to my knowledge. Enough for now.  Gotta play with the rest of .Text and start tweakin'... Later.
